I want to share why I created the Wake Smart Path™, because the “why” behind this program is deeply important to me.
When I was growing up, some of my happiest memories were from Cubs and Scouts. The camps, the late-night giggles in sleeping bags, the outdoor adventures, and the friendships… those experiences shaped who I am. I still remember the excitement of packing for a sleepover or a weekend away, it was where I learnt independence and was the happiest.

But now, as a paediatric pelvic health physiotherapist, I meet so many kids who never get to feel that.
It breaks my heart every time a child quietly tells me they won’t go to their school camp because they might wet the bed…
Or when a parent says their child “doesn’t like sleepovers” to avoid embarrassment…
Bedwetting doesn’t just wet sheets.
It steals childhood experiences that kids can’t get back.
And every time I saw that sadness, I wanted to do more.
The reality is, in clinic, me and my team can only help a handful of families per day. But bedwetting affects thousands. And no matter how hard I worked, I realised I would never reach enough children if everything stayed locked inside a treatment room.
That’s when everything changed.
I began writing down the exact protocols I use in clinic; the ones backed by research, refined by experience, and used successfully with countless families. I organised the steps, clarified every detail, added diagrams, safety notes, and everything a parent needs to follow the treatment with confidence.
And then I paired it with the exact device I use so families didn’t have to guess which machine to buy or how to use it properly.
The result became the Wake Smart Path™, a way for every family, anywhere in the country, to access the same high-quality care I provide in-person.
I created this because every child deserves to experience sleepovers, camps, and carefree nights.
If this protocol helps even one child say “yes” to their next camp… then it was worth creating.

Me (centre) on my way to Cuboree, which in my opinion is the best Scout Camp in the world!

There are a lot of bedwetting “solutions” out there. Some families are told to wake their child at a set time each night, for example before you go to bed, which may reduce wet sheets, but it doesn’t actually teach the brain to recognise and respond to the bladder's signals. Medications may help in some cases, but they can come with side effects and don’t always address the underlying learning needed for night-time dryness. That’s why I created Wake Smart Path™, because families deserve a solution that is evidence-based and designed for real life.
Wake Smart Path™ uses a clinically supported bedwetting alarm approach to help children learn to notice bladder signals and wake in time to use the toilet. The alarm acts as a safe and simple cue that supports the bladder–brain connection and builds night-time awareness over time; without invasive procedures, without clinic visits and without relying on medication. You’ll receive a high-quality alarm, clear step-by-step setup instructions, safety guidelines and a progress tracker to guide the process with confidence.
Most importantly, it gives you structure and support. No guesswork about what to do next and no juggling extra appointments. The program can be followed at home, in your own routine, and adapted to your family’s needs.
The Wake Smart Path is built to give parents a safe and simple way to help their child learn to wake up.

No. The protocol is designed for at-home use, without needing a referral. However, we encourage you to share your progress with your child’s doctor and health care team, especially if you're combining this with other treatments.
When the program is started it needs to be done correctly and consistently, so only start the program if you are ready to put in the time and effort for your child's bedwetting.
The protocol helps the brain learn to wake up for a full bladder.
Most families begin to see early signs of improvement within 4 to 6 weeks, but can be up to 8 to 12 weeks of consistent use.
It can be used alongside other approaches like the Dry Nights Protocol, or constipation management. In fact, many parents use this protocol as part of a broader continence plan.
Every child is different. Bedwetting alarms are been shown to improve bedwetting in many children. If you don’t see improvements after 12 weeks, we recommend booking a 1:1 consult with our team so we can investigate other causes of bedwetting.
