Bedwetting Australia is offering gap-free initial physiotherapy consultations during March 2026 for eligible patients with a Medicare referral under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan.
This initiative is designed to help families access specialised pelvic health physiotherapy support for children experiencing bladder or bowel difficulties.
The initial consultation is a comprehensive assessment designed to help understand the factors contributing to a child’s symptoms and develop an appropriate management plan.
- An initial physiotherapy consultation may include:
- A detailed discussion of symptoms and medical history
- Review of bladder and bowel habits
- Assessment of contributing factors such as bladder capacity, fluid intake, bowel function and lifestyle factors
- Education about bladder and bowel health
- Individualised management strategies for the child and family.
Medicare allows physiotherapy services to be claimed under Chronic Condition Management (CCM) plans when certain criteria are met. Patients may be eligible if:
- They have a condition that has been present (or is expected to be present) for at least six months, and
- Their GP has prepared or reviewed a Chronic Condition Management Plan within the past 18 months, and
- The GP has provided a referral for physiotherapy services, and
- Physiotherapy is recommended as part of their management plan.
Bedwetting Australia provides specialised pelvic health physiotherapy for children, adolescents and adults experiencing:
- Bedwetting (nocturnal enuresis)
- Daytime wetting
- Bladder urgency or frequency
- Constipation and bowel dysfunction
To access a gap-free initial consultation in March:
1. Visit your GP and discuss your child’s bladder or bowel symptoms.
2. If appropriate, your GP may prepare or review a Chronic Condition Management Plan.
3. Ask your GP to provide a referral for physiotherapy services.
4. Contact Bedwetting Australia to book your appointment.
Referrals do not need to be addressed to a specific physiotherapist and are generally valid for up to 18 months if no timeframe is specified.
If you or your child is experiencing bedwetting, daytime wetting, bladder urgency or constipation, support is available. During March 2026, eligible families may access a gap-free initial physiotherapy consultation at Bedwetting Australia with a GP referral under a Medicare Chronic Condition Management Plan.
Speak with your GP about a referral and contact Bedwetting Australia to book your appointment.
