What Happens During a Paediatric Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Consultation?

Telehealth Edition

Bedwetting can feel overwhelming, especially when nothing seems to be working. If you're looking for answers but prefer the convenience of staying at home, a telehealth consultation with a pediatric pelvic health physiotherapist is an excellent first step.

In this blog, we’ll walk you through what actually happens in a virtual bedwetting appointment, so you can feel confident, supported, and ready to take action.

Getting Set Up

Before your child’s telehealth appointment, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a secure video link. At the scheduled time, just click the link and you’ll be taken straight into the virtual treatment room. The platform we use is a trusted Australian health software system that offers high-quality video and audio with end-to-end encryption, so your privacy is always protected.

All you need is:

  • Your child nearby
  • A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone
  • A quiet, private space

To help us prepare for your child’s consultation, we ask that you complete an intake form at least 48 hours before your appointment. This form gives us important information about your child’s symptoms and health history, so we can make the most of your session and begin with a clear picture of what’s going on. The online form will be included in your appointment confirmation email.

To get the most out of your session, it’s helpful to have any completed bladder or bowel diaries ready to share, you can download these for free. Whether you’re in a rural area, managing mobility challenges, or just juggling a busy day at home, telehealth lets us provide expert support—right from your living room.

💡 If you haven’t started one yet, you can grab our free downloadable Bladder Diary and Bowel Diary to begin tracking.

Understanding the Full Picture

The first part of the consultation focuses on listening to your concerns. We aim to understand your child’s unique situation—not just the bedwetting, but everything surrounding it.

Tailored Treatment Plan

By the end of the appointment, we’ll create a treatment plan that fits your child’s life. This might include:

  • Urotherapy strategies (timed toileting, fluid intake goals, etc.)
  • Recommendations for alarms, charts, or sensory tools
  • Sleep and bladder support strategies
  • Bowel emptying routines

Bedwetting can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Many families find relief and reassurance, we’re here to help you understand what’s going on and create a plan that feels doable.
