Nocturnal enuresis (nighttime bladder leakage) isn’t just something that affects children. Many adults silently experience bedwetting, often feeling alone, frustrated, or unsure where to turn. If this sounds familiar, know that you are not alone, and physiotherapy can help.
Here’s what you can expect when attending an in-person pelvic health physiotherapy consultation for adult bedwetting.
We start with a private, compassionate discussion about your experience. You’ll be asked like:
You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with—our goal is to create a non-judgmental, understanding space.
You may be asked to complete a bladder diary and bowel diary before your appointment. These tools help us identify patterns in urine volume, frequency, fluid intake, and bowel function.

If you're comfortable, the in-person consultation may include a physical assessment to better understand what’s contributing to your bedwetting. This often includes a pelvic floor muscle assessment, where we gently check how well the muscles are contracting, relaxing, and coordinating. We may also use real-time ultrasound to assess bladder volumes, helping us understand how much urine is in the bladder before and after voiding, and how your muscles are functioning in real time.
Your treatment plan will be tailored to your needs and goals. It may include therapies like:
Many adults live with bedwetting in silence, believing it’s rare. If you would like help, we are here to support you.
